Organizational History

- In July, 2001, Mimi Rogers founded One Step Beyond, Inc. in Glendale, Arizona. The goal of One Step Beyond, Inc. was and is to provide a safe, supervised, cooperative home environment wherein young adults with cognitive disability can achieve the highest possible degree of independence and community inclusion while forming meaningful and enriching peer relationships and establishing themselves in a home of their own.

- In July, 2001, the Board of Directors of One Step Beyond, Inc. was formed.

- In March, 2002, One Step Beyond, Inc. was approved as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS.

- In August, 2002, The Angel Society, Inc. awarded One Step Beyond, Inc. a $15,000.00 grant to fund both a needs assessment and feasibility study as well as the development of a business plan to realize the Mission of One Step Beyond, Inc.

- In September, 2003, One Step Beyond, Inc. will open its first program, Stepping Out, a school to adult life transition program for young adults with cognitive disability that will provide these young adults with the training and experience they need to achieve the highest possible degree of independence and community inclusion and to establish themselves in a home of their own.
